Meaghan Hymers

Psychologist (Candidate Register)

I am a Psychologist (Candidate Register) licensed to provide in-person and/or virtual services in Nova Scotia. I hold a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons.) degree from the University of Waterloo, where I studied both Psychology and Sexuality, Marriage and Family Studies. I completed my Master of Science (MSc) degree in Clinical Psychology at Acadia University. I have experience working with adults in both Community Mental Health & Addictions and private practice settings.

I strive to take an anti-oppressive and strengths-based approach to psychotherapy, informed by understandings of systemic barriers to wellness and de-pathologizing frameworks. It is my goal to provide a non-judgmental space where clients feel safe, valued, and understood.

I have training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and I work collaboratively with my clients to tailor my therapeutic style to their unique needs and goals.

I have special interests in ADHD diagnosis and treatment, and supporting individuals who are struggling with difficult, “big” emotions. I particularly enjoy facilitating a supportive and affirming therapeutic environment for neurodivergent and 2SLGBTQ+ clients.
